2026 Primary Election

Did you know this election in August will be the most important election for local offices in Flagler County?

Primary elections typically have a lower turnout, despite the fact that every voter may cast a ballot in these elections. Primary elections are important!

All voters, regardless of political party affiliation are eligible to vote for nonpartisan contests. These races are important, several nonpartisan races will be decided in the Primary. Even if you do not declare a party affiliation, you may still vote for the nonpartisan races. As with any election, if you choose not to vote, someone else is making the decision for you.

The results from this Primary Election will shape the ballot you see in November! 

Several races will be decided in this Primary!

  • County-wide nonpartisan contests with two candidates are always decided in a Primary Election.
  • All voters are eligible to vote for all nonpartisan contests.

County Commission and School Board districts are voted countywide. You may vote for both of these School Board districts in the Primary Election. 

  • Circuit Judge, 7th Judicial Circuit, Group 26
  • School Board, District 1
  • School Board, District 2

Nonpartisan Races:

  • School Board Members
  • Judicial Offices
  • City of Palm Coast Council Members

Register to Vote

To register to vote, you must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Be a legal resident of Flagler County
  • Be 18 years old (you may pre-register if you are 16 or 17, but must be 18 to vote)
  • Not be adjudicated mentally incapacitated with respect to voting in Florida or any other state
  • Not been convicted of a felony without your civil rights having been restored pursuant to law
  • Not claim the right to vote in another county or state

VBM- Vote By Mail Mailing Dates:

  • Mail ballots will be sent to all voters who have requested a Vote-By-Mail ballot. In the State of Florida, mail ballots are counted in every election.
  • Deadline to request a mail ballot: August 6, 2026
  • Overseas (UOCAVA) absentee mail date: July 3, 2026
  • Domestic Vote-by-Mail date: July 13, 2026

There are three ways to vote in Florida. You may choose to:

  • Vote early
  • Vote by mail
  • Vote on Election Day
